Summary Information

According to an analysis of accrued transit industry benefits, current and planned deployments of APTS technologies at transit properties in the US will yield between $3.8 billion and $7.4 billion (discounted dollars for 1996) over the next several years. In approximate terms, 44 percent of the total results are from transit management systems, 34 percent are from electronic fare payment systems, 21 percent are from advanced traveler information systems, and 1 percent of the total benefit is from computer-aided dispatching in demand-responsive transit applications.
