Summary Information

Beginning as a pilot project in 1993, Colorado Department of Transportation continues to support the Mile High Courtesy Patrol in the Denver metropolitan area. Services provided by the courtesy patrol program are contracted out. For 2005, the program operates at $1.5 million with federal funds. Two tow trucks patrol the following highways segments:

    • I-25 from 104th Avenue to Alameda
    • US 36 from I-25 to Wadsworth
    • I-70 from Sheridan Boulevard to Pena Boulevard
    • I-225 from I-70 to Parker Road
    • US 6 (6th Avenue) from I-25 to Kipling Street
    • C-470 from I-25 to Wadsworth Boulevard
    • I-270 (Only if requested by law enforcement, or if there is a major incident)

Hours of operation are weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Services provided by the patrol include: towing, mechanical repairs, flat tire replacement, and protecting an incident/breakdown scene from highway traffic.
